Tmxxine News

Our new forum is on line
http://holygeeks.mypunbb.com/

At times Tmxxine has to get contract and concentrate in supporting key technologies
that will prove useful in the future.

For your information:

the first phases of the project is:

Collection and promotion of data
Our first task was finding an acceptable means of projection. As this is an open source project the use of public domain wikis is considered the best way to develop colloborative research.

and our web pages for the last 6 months have been in wiki format

ASQ on

  • Mood:
  • Music:

ASQ now has a more developed page thanks to wikibooks, who will decide whether we are text book material or not . . .

Meanwhile I have just installed Debian Linux on a spare hard drive after trying many live CD distros:

 Feather
Puppy (I liked puppy a lot, not the best looking but the energy and attitude is good. Even created a wikipedia entry to vote Puppy in as President - search for "wikipedia Linx Puppy" if interested in Google) I needed to get some recodable CD's some seemed twice as expensive BUT were re-recordable (up to 1000 times) Sounds worth the extra . . .

I tried Mepis and Mandrake and Slax and . . . well you get the idea

Oh Beatrix was nice. You can even pay for Linux now RedHhat commercial (Fedora is the free version). Mandrake moving that way. Susy (that looks a nice distro and they have a free version - did not try) is now owned by Novell. IBM is going over to Linux and Open Source exclusively.

OK back to time and ASQ: Curl 3.04 has been released - I always forget how good this language is. Elegant. Nice code. If they put it in Japanese phones it will go through the roof. If is two letters but it is a big IF.

Been learning XML (a sort of info exchange format) and will have a web site in a few weeks. This will be a joint tmxxine/ solar power project. One of the languages that has surprised me is assembler. Look out for Linoleum and ROSasm (which is being used for ReactOS) Just downloaded Croquet (A Squeak development - but it is nowhere near ready for genteel society)

Tmxxine has been removed from Wikibooks (as it is a research project (I am trying to develop the research and Wikiversity side of Wikibooks along with the other good people there) so that reserch can be done on a wiki - beginning to see evidence of these emerging . . .

OK - We are the Future - Make it so

Yope, Koppix and penguins

I sometimes forget I have blogs - I suffer from blog-dimentia, perhaps . .

Anyways here is the news from the Cructacean perspective.

I have been looking at Linux distros - I  do this once a while. I try and use software that is available on Linux because I intend to move to it as soon as possible

Beatrix I liked - I think gnome looks better than KDE AND (funny this) but that is more important than people realise . . .

Puppy Linux was cute - I just loved taking out the CD and there it was running in Ram. Look forward to the new version codenamed 'long haired wombat'

and look out for a combined Yoper and Knoppix (a live CD) this will be something special.

The ask language is now called ASQu and I will have to tie it in with the work of the semantic web advocates.

Also been doing a lot of work on Wikibooks - here are a few links to freeware
which you can add to here

ASK

ASK utilises qualities of fun and ease of use
inspired by the child centered languages of Logo, Hand, Drape and Squeak
and AI Search Engines such as BrainBoost

ASK is a language NOT designed by programmers
ASK utilises Games design systems as a model of simple commands
producing complex functions.
ASK believes the underlying language is irrelevant and is best served
by a language integrated with the CPU (when this becomes available)

So the command

"Play Sound"

would play a sound

but the computer would ASK questions until

it knew when to play the sound

How to play the sound

Which sound to play

. Check my computer for malware
. Update my Windows XP
. Install a driver for my Nvideo card
. Run tutorial on how to build a time machine
. Make me laugh

So you are not just requesting information from a search engine
but telling it how to process that information

Welcome

  • Mood:

In the Quantum so in the macroverse
In the emptiness the form in the form emptiness
Movement and stillness together
Nothing is perfect, Maths is a lie

"It has been rightly said that nothing is unimportant,
nothing powerless in the universe;
a single atom can dissolve everything, and save everything!
What terror! There lies the eternal distinction between good and evil."
Gerard De Nerval (1808 - 1855)
